Sunlight Foundation’s Mashup Lab

Sunlight’s goal is to provide citizens with information about congress and the federal government. Ellen Miller, the executive director, also founded the Center for Responsive Politics which is opensecrets.org, the best site for finding campaign finance information at the federal level.

One thing they’ve started is a mashup lab whose goal
is to build aggregators of political information, something she calls a “one-click political disclosure site”, an on-line “Accountability Matrix”.

We’ve been thinking of such a mashup within our whosfundingwhom.org project, which focuses on San Francisco campaign finance data. We created an on-line filing system for lobbyists, and we have visualization software for the campaign finance data. The next step is to mash.
